What inspired you to venture into your current industry/profession, and what drives your passion for it?
​​Honestly it felt very much divinely guided. I love business and after selling my fashion label last year and taking a 6 month break I was ready to jump back into the land of Digital but had no clue what it was going to be. Once I had made the decision to find a new business, it was like the universe delivered it to me on a silver platter. I love digital, I love creating, I love business, I love mentoring and helping other creatives, so what shows up? Madeit - it's like the Australian Handmade version of Etsy where artists and creatives can sell and showcase their creations. I have a very fast and busy brain which means it likes to be fed constantly, so finding that this platform was for sale, the timing blew me away.
Could you share a remarkable achievement or milestone in your career or personal life that you're particularly proud of? How did you overcome challenges to accomplish it?
It would have to be starting my own fashion label back in 2010 and then taking it online and building it into an incredible brand. I came into the business with an absolute passion for fashion and an infinitely curious mindset, I know it sounds cheesy but it's true. Everything felt like an adventure. Getting to the studio at four in the morning to make samples before a photoshoot, coming up with marketing strategies that were created from the thought of "What if..? Let's try..." I love learning and anytime I wasn't sure what to do or how to do something, I just took it on to learn how to do it.
In what ways do you believe your star sign influences your approach to life and business? Are there any specific traits or characteristics associated with your sign/natal chart that you identify with?
Hmmm all of them! I'm an Aries and my nature is definitely the fire starter. I'm like a kid in a candy shop when it comes to business, creativity and digital I can't get enough. I love a challenge and I'm always in a hurry to get there. For a long time I have tried to change some of my key characteristics to be more 'balanced' but now I see that they are what make me, me.
What strategies or practices do you rely on to maintain a healthy work-life balance? How do you prioritise self-care and personal well-being amidst your professional endeavours?
Haha I didn't read this question before responding to the last one... An area I can no doubt improve in but for me I like to go all in and then take a serious switch off break. Sunday is generally my day to detox from digital and I have a very regular hot yoga practice that ensures that I can sweat everything out and go into deep savasana. Massage is my treat which I ensure I get in 2-3 times a month.
Can you offer any advice or words of wisdom to aspiring individuals in your industry who look up to you as a role model? What key lessons or experiences have shaped your journey and contributed to your success?
Enjoy the ride & keep going, you are closer than you think. The key is to make sure you really, really love what you do. Business takes persistence and commitment but it is so worth it, being in a space where you are challenged and pushed to improve and learn is such a gift. You've got this!
