Aquarius, The Trailblazer, January 20 - February 18
Welcome to the free-spirited world of Aquarius, the eleventh sign of the zodiac! Aquarians are known for their originality, independence, and forward-thinking mindset. Symbolised by the Water Bearer, these air signs possess a unique energy that embraces innovation and humanitarian ideals.
Ruled by Uranus, the planet of revolution and progress, Aquarians have a natural affinity for breaking free from conventions and embracing their individuality. They possess a keen intellect and a strong desire to make a positive impact on the world. They are often visionaries who think ahead and bring fresh perspectives to the table.
One of the key characteristics of Aquarius is their commitment to social justice. They have a deep sense of empathy and value equality and fairness. Aquarians possess a natural ability to connect with others and are often drawn to causes that promote positive change.
In relationships, Aquarians are intellectually stimulating and value freedom and open-mindedness. They seek partnerships that allow them to maintain their independence and share their progressive ideas. They bring a sense of intellectual curiosity and innovation to their connections, and their ability to think outside the box can be inspiring to their loved ones.
Aquarius thrives in professions that allow them to utilise their originality and forward-thinking mindset. They excel in careers such as science, technology, social activism, or any field that involves innovative ideas and making a difference. However, they should be mindful of their tendency to detach emotionally. Cultivating emotional intimacy and connecting on a deeper level can contribute to their personal growth and enhance their relationships.

What inspired you to venture into your current industry/profession, and what drives your passion for it?
When I finished high school, I tried to get into broadcasting school and failed. Then I went to uni for a tourism management degree which morphed into a business degree in marketing. I was drawn to the human psychology papers and tapping into why we buy. I thought if I combine tourism and marketing I'd be working from dreamy hotels and resorts all over the world. It didn't quite pan out that way. But the thing I love about the marketing industry is it's always evolving. I'm now obsessed with AI and how it impacts my role as a copywriter. But ten years ago this was not even a thing. The marketing space is constantly evolving. The tools may change but the foundations stay the same, it’s all about human behaviour at the end of the day. And that's what keeps me hooked. I’ll never run out of things to learn.
Could you share a remarkable achievement or milestone in your career or personal life that you're particularly proud of? How did you overcome challenges to accomplish it?
On the personal front, I love expanding my mind and embarked on a 10-day silent vipassanā retreat in 2018. It was the most challenging thing I'd ever done physically and mentally. Sitting in discomfort and moving through it and embodying huge physical shifts gives you wisdom like nothing else. In my career I'm proud of perseverance in business, my everyday growth, and the way I've developed inner trust and belief in myself. It's not a race, I'm in it for the long haul. Sitting in that knowledge is really gratifying. When challenges arise I trust that it’s all part of the journey and it encourages me to grow and evolve. I choose to look at challenges with a positive lens. It’s all part of our story.
In what ways do you believe your star sign influences your approach to life and business? Are there any specific traits or characteristics associated with your sign/natal chart that you identify with?
I've always felt like a bit of an outsider, a rebel, a go against the grain kinda gal. So yes, I relate to that side of Aquarius "the rebel of the zodiac"! I read my horoscopes religiously at a young age, but I didn't really dive deeper into my birth chart until my 30s. It's been really validating seeing that my uniqueness is my superpower. I'm allowed to think differently. People may not get it, and that's ok. I don't try to fit in like I used to in my 20s. I'm happy to tune in and do what I think is best. It's been a journey to get to this point, but astrology has been a really powerful tool to build that self trust. I also relate to the "thinking" nature of Aquarius. As an air sign I'm always in my head, I find it hard to drop into my feeling body, so knowing that and making time for practices that ground me and allow me to really listen to my body are a godsend. Otherwise I'd just be an anxious overthinking mess! Freedom is a high value for me which aligns with the Aquarius nature. I've always worked towards having time, location and financial freedom in my career so I can live the life I choose.
What strategies or practices do you rely on to maintain a healthy work-life balance? How do you prioritise self-care and personal well-being amidst your professional endeavours?
Boundaries are big for me, but they really stepped up a notch after I had my first baby. Knowing I couldn't physically do it all was a shock. I had to make sure I spent time on the right things, and often that would be filling my cup. While things are always evolving and shifting, I love to fall back on daily meditation (even just 5 minutes) and movement (usually Pilates, yoga, dance or a walk in nature). Getting out of my head and into my body is important for me. Like active meditation. I have to move my body gently. I work three days a week, I don’t touch my phone until I’m at my desk at 9am, and I’m not an inbox zero kinda gal (I don’t see the point in chasing down that ever moving goalpost). While I love working a lot, sometimes too much, keeping a distance is important, otherwise I’m not really present with my family and friends.
Can you offer any advice or words of wisdom to aspiring individuals in your industry who look up to you as a role model? What key lessons or experiences have shaped your journey and contributed to your success?
Stay curious, stop comparing yourself to others, remember that small steps matter, every experience happens for you, life is short, love what you do, be KIND and lighten up, have fun. Remember you have unique talents and someone out there needs to hear from you. Impact doesn't have to be ending world hunger or saving our reefs (though that's rad if you do), impact can be small, in our communities, in our industries, in our homes. You’re important! Ok that turned into a bit of a rally cry, but I feel it’s all true. Learning more about yourself, listening to your gut, getting to know who you are is huge. Self awareness is your superpower. I’ve loved leaning into astrology to support this. When you know yourself it’s easier to make aligned decisions and quit agonising over everything. I’ve wasted a lot of time in that place and it's no fun.
