What you need to know about this star sign.

The aspects and qualities of Sagittarius

Sagittarius, The Advocate, November 22 - December 21

Welcome to the inspirational world of Sagittarius, the ninth sign of the zodiac! Sagittarians are known for their adventurous spirit, optimism, and thirst for knowledge. Symbolised by the Archer, these fire signs possess an energetic energy that propels them towards new horizons.

Ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion and wisdom, Sagittarians have a natural affinity for exploration and seeking truth. They possess a free-spirited nature and an insatiable curiosity that drives them to embark on new adventures and expand their horizons. They radiate optimism and have a contagious enthusiasm for life.

One of the key characteristics of Sagittarius is their love for adventure and their desire for freedom. They have a natural wanderlust and a deep appreciation for different cultures and perspectives. They’re natural-born learners who thrive in environments that allow them to broaden their knowledge and experience the world.

In relationships, Sagittarians are independent and open-minded partners. They value their personal freedom and seek connections with individuals who share their love for exploration and intellectual stimulation. They bring excitement and spontaneity to their relationships, and their optimism can be contagious to those around them.

Sagittarius thrives in professions that allow them to utilise their adventurous spirit and thirst for knowledge. They excel in careers such as travel, teaching, writing, or any field that involves exploration and expansion. However, they should be mindful of their tendency to be restless and impatient. Learning to focus their energy and embrace commitment can contribute to their personal growth and long-term success.

The Pursuit for Sagittarius: To inspire others through their optimism, enthusiasm and fostering a sense of curiosity and open-mindedness. By doing so they’ll encourage others to embrace a life of exploration and personal growth.

What inspired you to venture into your current industry/profession, and what drives your passion for it?

I've always been drawn to marketing. I'm highly creative and love people, conversations, and ideas, plus I have this wild "sky's the limit" approach to everything I do in life. I honestly couldn't imagine doing anything else, and I think if I did I would be restricted and forced to be someone I am not. Creative freedom is so important to me and it's where I thrive the most. I've been in PR and marketing for over 10 years, however, the work I do now is in messaging, brand strategy, and idea generation and I love it. I love the power of messaging and the placement of words and breathing fresh ideas and strategy into a brand to reposition, reimagine and realign its position and take a creative, outside-the-box approach. It combines my unique skill set and keeps things exciting, dynamic, and interesting. I love that no two days are the same and there's always something fun and different happening - the ultimate career path for this Sagittarius-Aquarian.

Could you share a remarkable achievement or milestone in your career or personal life that you're particularly proud of? How did you overcome challenges to accomplish it?

There have been so many wonderful business highlights, it's so hard to pick just one, but one moment I am proud of, to be honest, is this. In 2018, I felt a calling for a life shake-up and I made the bold decision to relocate my business and life from Adelaide to Brisbane and try something new. I didn't know anyone or have any specific connections to Brisbane but I just had this feeling that it was exactly where I needed to be, a calling for something bigger; a change and a challenge. I remember that exact feeling when I arrived. I didn't know anyone, I was working in my business alone at the time and it was scary, but it was also the most empowering decision I made for myself. Not only did it force me to put myself out there and meet people, every day. It was also a fresh start and a chance to create a new, exciting life for myself. Many challenges and bumps along the way, but I've also had so many exciting opportunities and experiences, plus I've met so many incredible people. Sometimes we just need to know when to go all in and back ourselves. I love that the rebellious Sagittarius energy in me is always pushing me for more out of life. To me the big milestone achievements aren't really about business or how successful I am, it's about the moves I've made, the risks I've taken, and all the times I've backed myself.

In what ways do you believe your star sign influences your approach to life and business? Are there any specific traits or characteristics associated with your sign/natal chart that you identify with?

I feel my natal chart in my very core. I'm a classic Sagittarius sun and Aquarius rising. My approach to life is the same approach I have to my work - the sky's the limit and I'm here to experience everything; channel my creativity, connect with people, share conversations, and spark ideas. I'd say I'm an adventure seeker, experience creator, and brand visionary who is here to have a good time and make the most of every experience. With 50% water in my chart - Scorpio and Pisces, I'm very much a black and white, hard yes or hard no person and definitely have an intensity to who I am and need to do things in my own way and when I am ready. This comes through in the way I communicate and the devotion I give to all my relationships. I do believe I am exactly where I need to be, doing work that's perfectly aligned with who I am as a person and also astrologically, too and as a business owner. Learning about my natal chart has helped me understand the way I work, think, and live in a deep way and fully accept the person I am - it's been an empowering, inspiring, and transformative experience.

What strategies or practices do you rely on to maintain a healthy work-life balance? How do you prioritise self-care and personal well-being amidst your professional endeavours?

Due to the Pisces energy in my chart and my big Sagittarius energy, self-care, and health is always important to me. I know I am not the kind of person who can hustle 24/7, my creative energy needs recharging and downtime in order to bring the magic to my clients (and myself). For me, I make sure I carve out time for self-care each day. I've found what works for me is a combination of exercise, journaling, and making sure I get enough sunshine. Every weekend I indulge in an infrared sauna session and quality time with friends to recharge my batteries and I invest in the right people who I know can help me. For me, that's working with a PT twice a week and my monthly coaching sessions with Kristy to keep me inspired, accountable, and empowered with my goals. Having the flexibility that comes with working for myself, I've found that having these pockets of time can be easy and sometimes challenging to fit in, especially when things are busy - to make sure I can always fit it in, I ensure it's part of my routine. Simply taking an hour for myself morning and night makes such a huge difference to the way that I feel and I know I'll be better for it. Understanding my Mars placement (energy output) has made such a difference in understanding myself more and honouring what I need in order to thrive in my personal and professional life and I really do own that now.

Can you offer any advice or words of wisdom to aspiring individuals in your industry who look up to you as a role model? What key lessons or experiences have shaped your journey and contributed to your success?

I think what's worked for me is that I'm quite rebellious (Sagittarius in the 11th house!) and I thrive when doing things my own way, disrupting literally every aspect of my life and especially in my work, which I think is my superpower. Doing things differently and really owning it. I truly believe that to be successful in this life, we need to really own who we are and share that with the world in a celebratory way, Beyonce style. So my biggest advice would be just that. Don't try and be anyone else. Don't do things because everyone else is. Don't be afraid to be different. Take a different approach and always follow your gut. Channel all the magical energy that makes you. Be a leader, not a follower. Every compliment that I've received about what I do is how different I am in my approach, and that's always served me. "Becoming me" has really helped shaped my professional experience - the more I learn about myself and evolve who I am, the more I get closer to the work I need to be doing and who for - it's a journey that never ends, but getting closer to me has always been the best investment I've made in myself and my business.
